Our Story
It started with a hanging chair.
In 2018, we launched a single rattan hanging chair. It sold over 100 a day. Almost overnight, we weren't a small idea anymore — we were a furniture company, trying to figure out how to be one.
Our founder, a product manager by training, hit the road. From Shenzhen to Jiangxi to Fujian, he visited workshop after workshop, looking for makers who still knew how to weave rattan by hand and joint solid wood the slow way. The team back home — about a dozen of us handling design, operations, and customer support — learned the hard parts the hard way: packaging that didn't survive freight, assembly steps that frustrated customers, finishes that needed one more round of sanding.
We fixed what we could, owned what we got wrong, and kept asking customers what they actually wanted next. Most of what we make today started as a message from someone in Ohio, Texas, or California — a sketch, a frustration, a "why doesn't anyone make this?" That's still how we work. Tell us what your home needs. We'll figure out how to build it.

What Yechen stands for?
At Yechen, we design furniture that makes everyday living feel calmer, warmer, and a little more intentional. Every piece is built around natural materials — solid wood, rattan, and soft linen-look fabrics — and made for the way American families actually live.
Y — Your home, your way.
Versatile silhouettes that work with modern, farmhouse, Japandi, boho, or minimalist rooms.
E — Earth-minded materials.
Solid wood and natural rattan, with packaging we keep slimming down every season.
C — Clear instructions, clean assembly.
Pre-drilled frames and numbered hardware. (Yes, it's knock-down — but we've made it as painless as we can.)
H — Harmony of natural elements.
Solid wood posts, woven rattan, and soft upholstery — the textures of nature, brought indoors.
E — Enduring build quality.
Reinforced corner joinery and load-tested frames, built to outlast the season's trend cycle.
N — Near you in the inbox.
Real people on email support, usually replying within one business day — backed by a 30-day return window and a 1-year limited warranty.
Welcome home. — The Yechen Team

How it's made
Cut & Dry — Hardwood blocks are milled and kiln-dried before any cutting begins.
Joint — Frames are assembled with reinforced corner joinery, then test-fit by hand.
Weave — Rattan panels are woven strand by strand, one artisan per piece.
Finish — Each piece is hand-sanded and sealed with a low-odor, water-based finish.

Made by hand, marked by nature.
Wood has grain. Rattan has texture. Linen has weave. We don't sand these away — they're part of why we chose the material in the first place. Every Yechen piece carries the small variations that come from being made one at a time, by hand, from things that grew. Two beds from the same collection won't look identical up close. We think that's a feature, not a flaw.

Can't find it? We'll build it.
About a third of what leaves our workshop never appears on this website. We build custom bed frames, dining tables, sideboards, and storage pieces for homeowners with awkward room dimensions, interior designers sourcing for clients, and boutique hotels furnishing whole properties.
Send us a photo, a rough sketch, or just the dimensions and the wood you're after. We'll come back with a quote and a 3D mockup, usually within three business days. Minimum order is one piece. There's no design fee to start the conversation.

Where we stand on sustainability
Furniture isn't a low-impact category. Wood is harvested. Containers cross oceans. Foam and finishes use chemistry. We won't pretend otherwise.
What we can do, we do. We work mostly in fast-growing hardwoods like rubberwood and acacia rather than old-growth species, and a growing share of what we make is built from FSC-certified stock. We're also rolling out our first pieces in bamboo — one of the fastest-renewing materials we know — starting this year. We keep our packaging as thin as it can survive freight in, and when only one part of a piece is damaged in transit, we ship the part, not a whole new piece.
We don't have a full carbon report yet. We're working on it. When we get there, we'll tell you on this page — with the receipts.
