The laminated walnut is flawless, inside and out, on the edges, and the top and bottom of every piece. Assembly is straightforward. All the holes are predrilled. The packaging was equally impressive.
It's a nice solid piece. Unique design. I'll give it a 5 on that. Taking 1 star off for the instructions. The one I got was a 2 piece set. One of them had screws labeled incorrectly. Everything was there but it was a pain making sure what screws were "E" and "D" lol. The second box had everything labeled correctly and after building one, the 2nd was easier. First set took about 3 hrs second set I had help and reduced to about 1.5 hours. The doors and getting them aligned is the most tedious process (make sure you read the last pages of the booklet).
I'm really happy with this black sideboard cabinet. Once it was fully put together, I immediately noticed how clean and modern the geometric recessed door design looks. The black finish blends in easily with my other furniture and doesn't feel overly glossy or cheap. It also feels very sturdy - the thick top and bottom panels definitely make it more solid than most flat-pack storage cabinets I've owned.
I originally bought this thinking it would work best as a black buffet cabinet in the dining room, but after living with it for a bit, I realized how flexible it really is. I tried it in the living room first, then moved it closer to the entryway, and it honestly looked good in every spot. Assembly took some time, but nothing unexpected for a cabinet this size, and everything lined up the way it should. Once it was in place, it felt like a piece that actually belongs in the house, not something temporary. Overall, this is a well-made, stylish, and very practical black storage cabinet that works in the living room, dining room, or entryway. I'm really glad I ordered it.
